Plastic Pallets

The Smart Choice for Modern Logistics

There’s a reason so many logistics and warehousing professionals are switching to plastic pallets. They offer reliability, consistency, and long-term value that wooden pallets simply cannot match. At Greystone Pallets, we design and manufacture 100% recycled plastic pallets for industries that demand durability and efficiency. When you choose a pallet, you’re choosing the foundation of your entire supply chain — and the right choice can save you time, money, and stress. Plastic pallets deliver that advantage.

Why Plastic Pallets Outperform Wood

Durability and Long-Term Value in Plastic Pallets

Plastic pallets are engineered for longevity. Wooden pallets begin breaking down after only a few turns in circulation. They split, crack, warp, and absorb moisture, which shortens their useful life and increases replacement costs. Plastic pallets, on the other hand, can last many years with consistent performance.

Because plastic pallets are manufactured rather than constructed from raw lumber, every pallet maintains the same structural integrity. They are impact-resistant, weather-resistant, and far more reliable when exposed to repeated handling. This durability translates directly into cost savings because fewer pallets end up damaged or removed from circulation.

Hygiene, Cleanliness, and Safety With Plastic Pallets

For food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical applications, cleanliness is essential. Plastic pallets offer a major advantage because they are non-porous. They do not absorb liquids, chemicals, oils, or moisture. This prevents contamination and makes cleaning simple and fast.

Wood naturally absorbs moisture and can harbor bacteria, mold, or pests. To prevent this, wood often requires chemical treatments that introduce their own set of safety concerns. Plastic pallets eliminate all of these issues. They also reduce workplace injuries because they do not contain nails, splinters, or rough edges that can damage products or injure workers.

When your facility prioritizes hygiene, plastic pallets provide the consistency and safety you need.

Better Consistency for Automation and High-Tech Warehousing

Modern supply chains depend on precision. Plastic pallets maintain exact dimensions with every unit produced, which is critical for automated warehouses, conveyor systems, and robotic pallet handling. Wooden pallets, with natural material variations, cannot guarantee uniformity.

Plastic pallets do not warp or swell due to weather conditions. Their consistent size and performance allow them to move smoothly through automated systems without jamming, damaging equipment, or slowing production. Businesses that invest in automation understand that pallet consistency is non-negotiable — and plastic pallets deliver that consistency every time.

Lightweight Design Reduces Transportation Costs

Plastic pallets are significantly lighter than wooden pallets. While wooden pallets often weigh between 30 and 70 pounds, plastic pallets can weigh much less depending on style and load requirements. That difference reduces transportation costs, especially in large-scale operations where weight-based freight charges add up quickly.

Reduced weight also simplifies manual handling, leading to fewer workplace injuries and easier movement within warehouses. When employees work with plastic pallets, they experience smoother workflows and improved efficiency compared to traditional wooden pallets.

Plastic Pallets Support Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

Greystone Pallets produces plastic pallets made from 100% recycled materials. This allows companies to adopt a more environmentally responsible approach to their supply chain without sacrificing performance.

Plastic pallets last significantly longer than wood. Instead of discarding broken, splintered, or contaminated wooden pallets, companies can rely on plastic pallets that remain in circulation for years. When plastic pallets eventually reach the end of their life cycle, they can be fully recycled into new pallets or other plastic products.

This approach reduces landfill waste, lowers raw material consumption, and supports a circular economy — making plastic pallets the sustainable choice for businesses of all sizes.

The Hidden Costs of Wood — and Why Plastic Pallets Avoid Them

Many companies choose wooden pallets because the initial price is lower, but that doesn’t account for long-term expenses. Wooden pallets carry hidden costs that accumulate quickly.

Wood absorbs moisture, which weakens the structure and makes the pallet prone to mold, mildew, or rot. If the pallet is exposed to chemicals, oils, or contaminants, the absorbed materials can transfer to the product. Wood is also susceptible to insect infestations, which create compliance headaches and potential safety risks.

Additionally, wood pallets vary widely in quality. One pallet may perform differently from another due to knots, moisture levels, or structural imperfections. In automated systems, this inconsistency can halt operations, damage equipment, or cause product spills.

Wood pallets also require chemical treatments to prevent pests and bacteria. These treatments may not align with food-grade or pharmaceutical storage requirements. Splintering and breakage are common, creating hazards for workers and generating debris that needs constant cleanup.

When all these factors are considered, plastic pallets dramatically outperform wood in total cost, cleanliness, safety, and long-term reliability.

The longer you use plastic pallets, the more value they deliver — and Greystone Pallets ensures you receive that value with every shipment.

We also promote full lifecycle stewardship. When your pallets reach the end of their productive life, we recycle them so they remain part of a sustainable cycle rather than entering the waste stream. This makes our pallets a responsible and environmentally conscious choice.

Plastic pallets deliver the strength, durability, hygiene, consistency, and long-term cost savings that wooden pallets simply cannot match. From automated warehouses to food and beverage distribution, the advantages of plastic pallets make them the superior choice for companies that prioritize efficiency and reliability.
